Help us celebrate 50 years of NASTAR racing by joining us at Squaw Valley-Alpine Meadows, March 21-25.
NASTAR participants can qualify for the championships by winning medals within their age, ability and gender group. Racers can also qualify by earning a place at a Regional Championship event.
The International Skiing History Association will be joining the celebration of NASTAR's golden anniversary when it presents its annual awards honoring outstanding creative works of ski history.
The main event races take place, March 23 & 24.
NASTAR Championships Slalom Race-March 21
Team Races for Families & Friends-March 22
Resort Team Competition-March 23 & 24
Race of Champions-March 25
The 2018 event will be an exciting week of activities that includes race clinics, races, free concerts, autograph signings by U.S. Ski Team athletes and alumni, competitor raffles/giveaways, awards receptions, team races, and slalom racing. Participants and paid guests will receive discounts on lift tickets and lodging and they will be given a credential that provides lunch on Friday and the awards reception Saturday. In addition, participant and guest credentials provide great deals at on-mountain restaurants and in-town discounts on food and beverages, merchandise and recreational activities.
Racers are grouped by ability, age, gender, and discipline. Each participant will take two runs on Friday and two runs on Saturday. The best handicap earned on each race day will be averaged to determine the competitors’ final results. Each racer that wins a NASTAR National Championship title within their division is invited to compete in the final Race of Champions competition on Sunday to compete in a handicapped race for the overall win. Racers carry their winning handicap into the race to level the playing field so that young and veteran racers have an opportunity to win and become the overall Liberty Mutual Insurance NASTAR National Champion.
The National Championships will also include a Family Team Race and a Friends Team Race on Thursday. Friends Teams will have an opportunity to add a U.S. Ski Team member or alumni to their team.
The NASTAR Slalom Championship will kick off the racing action on Wednesday. Participants will compete in a two run stubby gate slalom race with the best handicap earned placing racers in either the Platinum/Gold division or the Silver/Bronze division. Adults will race in the morning and juniors will compete in the afternoon.
