If you have one or two race days, your Resort Ranking handicap will determine whether you are placed in the Platinum Division, Gold Division, Silver Division or Bronze Division.
If you have three or more race days your National Average handicap will determine whether you are placed in the Platinum Division, Gold Division, Silver Division or Bronze Division. The National Average handicap is an average of your three best handicaps that are earned on three different days.
The NASTAR Handicap Chart shows the handicap needed in each age & gender category to be placed in a particular division.
National Championship divisions are set at the qualifying deadline. President's Day is always the last day to race and establish your handicap and division for the National Championships. Some racers will change divisions after the qualifying deadline, but they complete at the National Championships in the division in which they qualified.
If you compete as a Snowboarder, Telemarker or Physically Challenged Racer, NASTAR will place you in one of these Non-Alpine Divisions according to your discipline regardless of your handicap - either the Snowboard Division, Telemark Division or Physically Challenged Division. There are sub-divisions within the Physically Challenged discipline and racers are differentiated according to their disability. Your Racer Division is indicated on your Race Record.
