Swix Wax Tips

There are different waxes for different temperautres so Swix uses a number system 4-6-7-8-10, 4 being coldest and 10 the warmest. This time of year Aspen/Snowmass is in the 7-8-10 range (no need for extreme cold) so Swix recommends using:

  • CH Wax - most economical (hydocarbon)
  • LF Wax Flourinated - faster gliding
  • HF Wax 100% flourinated - optimal speed

For racing wax, Swix recommends:

  • Overlay final layer to be put over LF or HF wax for blistering glide
  • LF7, LF8 & LF10
  • HF8 & HF10
  • Overlay ROCKET Spray FC8A, HVC warm, wet Turbo Cera F

Items competitors will need:

  • Files for sharpening edges
  • Diamond stone to polish edge /Touch up between runs
  • File guide for sharpening
  • Vise to hold skis
  • Iron to melt wax
  • Scraper to scrape wax
  • Brush to brush out wax and make base of ski smooth

Last but not least "Good Attitude"!!
