RESORT REQUIREMENTS To ensure the integrity of the NASTAR Handicap System, each Nature Valley NASTAR resort is required to send, at minimum, two (2) pacesetters and not more than (4) pacesetters to a Regional Pacesetting Trial. If you need to send additional pacesetter to the trials your resort must submit a request for additional entries. NASTAR pacesetters do not need to be the fastest racers at your resort but they must be consistent. However, each resorts should have at least one pacesetter with a handicap of 15 or lower to handicap additional resort pacesetters.

All NASTAR races must have a pacesetter with a certified NASTAR Handicap so that he/she can set the Par Time.

REGISTRATION: All pacesetters must pre-register for the Regional Pacesetting Trials by emailing their Name, NASTAR Registration Number and Resort Name to NASTAR one week prior to the event. Pacesetters looking to attend a Regional Pacesetting Trial must be registered with NASTAR and know their NASTAR Registration number. Pacesetters must verify that they are in the NASTAR Database by searching for their last name at and claiming their NASTAR record. Pacesetters must log in, create a password and update/edit their personal information. If a Pacesetter is not in the NASTAR Database, they must create a NASTAR record by clicking Register on the web site.

PACESETTER HANDICAPS: Pacesetters will earn three handicaps at the Pacesetting Trials. Pacesetters handicaps will be recorded to the hundredth of a point. 1. The lowest handicap earned during the first race will serve as the pacesetter’s “Coat” handicap. Pacesetters must wear their warm-ups or regular work clothes for the first race. When pacesetters set the Par Time at their resort wearing their warm-ups or regular work clothes, they must use their “Coat” handicap.

The second race privides pacesetter with an opportunity to earn a handicap wearing a race suit. The "Suit" handicap must be used when a pacesetter sets the par time wearing a race suit. The lowest handicap earned during the second race will determine each pacesetter’s “Suit” handicap.

NASTAR Slalom handicaps are earned during the SL Pacesetting Race. SPM Hero gates or stubbies are used for NASTAR Slalom to encourage public participation and full gate slalom can also be scored as a NASTAR Slalom race.

The host resort provides complimentary lift tickets and race entry.
