To ensure the integrity of the NASTAR Handicap System, each Nature Valley NASTAR resort is required to send, at minimum, two (2) pacesetters and not more than (4) pacesetters to a Regional Pacesetting Trial. If you need to send additional pacesetter to the trials your resort must submit a request for additional entries. Your NASTAR Coordinator or Ski School Director as well as your Pacesetters must attend the information session held during the event to learn about new promotions and program changes. Nature Valley NASTAR pacesetters should be the fastest racers at their resort and at least one pacesetter should have a handicap of 15 or lower. All Nature Valley NASTAR races must have a pacesetter with a certified NASTAR Handicap so that he/she can set the Par Time. When the Par Time is set the timer to announce each racer's time, handicap, medal earned and how much faster the competitor must race to earn the next medal.
All pacesetters must pre-register for the Regional Pacesetting Trials by emailing their Name, NASTAR Registration Number and Resort Name to NASTAR one week prior to the event. Pacesetters looking to attend a Regional Pacesetting Trial must be registered with NASTAR and know their NASTAR Registration number. Pacesetters must verify that they are in the NASTAR Database by searching for their last name by entering their name at the top of any nastar.com page. Pacesetters must log in, create a password and update/edit their personal information. In addition, all resort pacesetters must be entered on their Resort Team under the Team Racing option. For instructions on how to maintain your Race Record go to the Check Race Results page at nastar.com. If a Pacesetter is not in the NASTAR Database, they must Register Race by selecting the option at the top of any nastar.com page. Once completed pacesetters can register for the Pacesetting Trials.
Pacesetters will earn two handicaps at the Nature Valley NASTAR Regional Pacesetting Trials. Pacesetters handicaps will be recorded to the hundredth of a point.
1. The lowest handicap earned during the first race will serve as the pacesetter’s “dressed” handicap. Pacesetters must wear their warm-ups or regular work clothes for the first race. When pacesetters set the Par Time at their resort wearing their warm-ups or regular work clothes, they must use their “dressed” handicap.
2. The lowest handicap earned during the second race will determine each pacesetter’s “race” handicap. Pacesetters are allowed to wear racing suits for the second race. When pacesetters set the Par Time at their resort wearing a racing suit, they must use their “race” handicap.
Each pacesetter attending a Regional Pacesetting Trial receives the following benefits:
Thrilling competition against some of the top ski racers in the region
Two certified NASTAR Handicaps (dressed & race)
Complimentary gift from Nature Valley NASTAR
Complimentary food and beverage during the information session
