Lodging Info

This is the schedule we suggest: Arrive Sunday and depart Monday.

Sunday-Arrive in Aspen/Snowmass. Drink lots of water and acclimate.

  • Flying into Aspen is easy. The airport is between Aspen and Snowmass so you will be at your lodge shortly after you land.
  • Flying into Denver International Airport or Eagle and taking a van to Aspen/Snowmass is also a good option. It is approximately 4 ½ hours drive time from DIA and about two hours from Eagle and you can skip renting a car if you prefer. Let Colorado Mountain Express do the driving and they will take you and your family straight to your lodge.
  • You will not need a car in Snowmass-there are plenty of free transportation options.
  • Snowmass has a push gondola that we call the Skittles, which runs between the Base Village and the Mall. Most of the lodging is between the Base and the Mall and the gondola runs from 8am-9pm. Saturday evening the Skittles will run until 10pm following the Awards Ceremony & Reception.
  • In addition, the shuttle bus system in Snowmass consistently wins awards for being the best in the business so you do not need to drive, anywhere.

 • Monday-Aspen Mountain

  • Aspen is the classic ski town. The Spar Gulch and Copper Bowl is perfect terrain to get you on your skis and a 15 min gondola allows you to do 3,200’ laps. Aspen Mountain is also home to the Aspen Winternational so make sure you ski Ritchie’s, Aztec, Spring Pitch, Strawpile and 5th Avenue to get a feel for a real World Cup race hill.

• Tuesday-Aspen Highlands

  • Spectacular views and the home of the Highlands Bowl. Don’t miss the opportunity to ski Highlands and experience the Bowl. It is about a 30 minute hike from where the snowcat drops you off (no charge) and you will never forget the hike up or the ski down.

Wednesday-Buttermilk/Tiehack or Snowmass

  • Buttermilk is the home of the X-Games and Tiehack hosts many USSA events on Racers Edge. There is a new high speed quad on Tiehack that provides quick access to great uncrowded groomed terrain.
  • Snowmass is huge. You will need some time to explore this massive mountain. The mountain offers the largest vertical drop in the U.S. 4,406 vertical feet, 94 trails and 21 lifts.
  • Take a race clinic at Snowmass and get a feel for the race venue where you will be racing.
  • This is also a great day to Check-In, if you haven't already, at the NASTAR Registration HQ located in the Snowmass Conference Center, Grand Ballroom.
  • Nature Valley NASTAR National Championships kicks off with apres activities at the Base Village in Snowmass with live music in the Base Village.
