Olympic and World Champion Picabo Street joins Nature Valley NASTAR as an Ambassador to help promote recreational alpine racing. "Being a part of the largest recreational ski program in the world on behalf of Nature Valley is something my family and I are very excited about this season. We are so looking forward to being in Winter Park (at Winter Park Resort) in March."
The Nature Valley NASTAR National Championships will take place at Winter Park Resort, CO March 22-25. Picabo will join current and former U.S. Ski Team athletes to set the pace for the races, sign autographs and hang out with her fans. Joining Picabo will be the current Nature Valley NASTAR National Pacesetter Steve Nyman and World Cup slalom ace Nolan Kasper. In addition, U.S. Ski Team alumni AJ Kitt, Doug Lewis, Heidi Voelker and Kaylin Richardson will also be on hand to race with the top recreational racers during the National Championships.
The Championships, presented by Nature Valley, will include a Family Challenge race on March 26th and a U.S. Ski Team Pro Am on March 27th. The U.S. Alpine Championships will begin on March 28th to wrap up ten days of ski racing from the recreational level to the very best American racers. Registration for the Family Challenge and the Pro Am is open and participation is limited.
Picabo Street joined the U.S. Ski Team at 17 years of age and made her World Cup debut at the age of 21. She won a silver medal in downhill at the 1994 Winter Olympics and went on to win the World Cup downhill title in 1995 & 1996. Picabo won a gold medal in Super G at the 1998 Winter Olympics.
