NASTAR Slalom & Pacesetting

NASTAR Slalom & Pacesetting

NASTAR Slalom courses should be set using soft rubber hero gates or stubby gates to encourage participation. Turning gates should be 12 meters apart with two to four meters of offset.
pacesetter database

NASTAR pacesetters earn certified slalom handicaps during the pacesetting trials. The pacesetters' slalom handicaps are included in their online records so that they can set the Par Time for any NASTAR Slalom race.

Each certified pacesetter is listed in the Pacesetter Database within the NASTAR software and when the race is posted to the web site a link is created to the pacesetter's online record. This provides the participants with an opportunity to view the pacesetter's record and to see where he/she earned their pacesetting handicap.

Pacesetter handicaps are updated throughout the season and must be selected within the timing software. On the Race Header/Pacesetters tab click on Edit Pacesetters. Click on the pacesetter's name or click on a blank P# and type the pacesetter's last name in the space provided to select the correct record from the pacesetter database.

This process insures that the host resorts are using certified handicaps so that the pacesetters can set accurate Par Times and represent Ted Ligety and the National Standard to the best of their abilities.

Slalom Races

Slalom races must be marked as a slalom to be scored correctly.

On the bottom of the Race Header/Pacesetter tab put a check mark in the appropriate box as shown below.

To find a list of certified pacesetters online look under the Info tab at Scroll down to Pacesetting and click on Certified Pacesetter List.
